The PassengerThis film, also known as Professione: Reporter and Beruf: Reporter, features Maria Schneider in a critically acclaimed role with Jack Nicholson. Many consider it to be her best film, directed by the legendary Michelangelo Antonioni ( Blow Up and Zabriskie Point). It competed for the Palme d'Or at the 1975 Cannes Film Festival. The film was praised for its innovative camera work by Luciano Tovoli, in particular the final shot which lasted almost eight minutes without a cut. Unfortunately, The Passenger was a commercial failure and did not attract an audience. Co-star Jack Nicholson later commented that Maria's substance abuse during its filming became a serious impediment towards completing the production. It was recently re-released on DVD thirty years after its original debut.
